Locks of Love 2017
Rachel was a knockout beauty with long blonde hair. Losing your hair as a young woman, or anytime really, is a very depressing event.
I watched Rachel's beautiful hair fall out, and although she handled it very well, I always remembered how I would've loved to give my hair to help her because not only did she lose her hair, but she also had to encounter all the treatments, pain, discomfort, etc. If all I did was cut my hair to make her feel better in one way, that seemed only fair. Unfortunately, I could not make that happen, but I always knew I wanted to do that for someone one day.
This year, my hair grew long enough to donate to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is devoted to helping every child suffering from medical hair loss. Because Locks of Love hairdressers only cut what Locks of Love requires, I left the salon with hair longer than expected.
Rachel chose to go without hair and was confident enough to pull that off, but I don't think I would be - so I hope my hair donation will give some child fighting cancer a chance to feel better and more confident and ease one of their many pains.
I encourage everyone to attempt this donation to Locks of Love. It is easy, and you will feel better with a new hairstyle. But mostly, you will give someone else a chance to feel better about themselves while fighting for their life.
