Mission

Natalee's Song is a non-profit organization established in 2007. It assists and raises funds for organizations that support the care, cure, and comfort of children and their families facing Leukemia. Natalee's Song also directly engages with the hospitals and their patients, hosting fantastic fun days while patients receive treatments.

A NOTE FROM NATALEE:

I started Natalee's Song in 2007. I knew nothing of cancer or ever did I think much about death or dying. I learned about cancer and the fact that you can die from it from my Kindergarten best friend's sister. Her name was Zoe, and she passed away. After learning about this, I was shocked and looked at life differently. Because I was so young, I immediately thought of elementary things like how these children might have fun in the hospital and wondered if they were scared and had toys.

After learning about how long Zoe spent in the hospital and my concerns about these children, I knew I wanted to help. I wanted to give children facing this disease toys that they might like when they are in the hospital, and my mission grew from there. Natalee's Song took a significant turn in its mission after my best friend was diagnosed with Leukemia in second grade. I wanted to support Rachel in every way I could.

Natalee Song's mission grew from facilitating the yearly events to seeking and supporting organizations that significantly impact the children's hospital experiences.

Natalee's Song was important to me before I met Rachel, but after spending days in the hospital with Rachel during her treatments, I knew we could do more. I had no answer for cancer, but I had a song I could sing to make everyone aware. I saw the extra care and love the children needed during their daily struggles in the hospital, the need for daily fun activities, and the need to ensure they knew they were in everyone's thoughts.

The name Natalee's Song originated from my love of singing and the quote from Maya Angelo:

"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song." I do not have an answer to cancer. but I do have a song. and I intend to keep singing so that everyone knows how to ensure the children know they are not forgotten!
